There are two ways a hosting provider calls themselves green web hosting: one mostly because of green tags, compensation of power they use by buying renewable energy (wind power or solar power) known as "power offsets". The result is addtional budget for wind or solar power station to put additional power into power grid and a little shift away from dependence on burning fossil fuel to produce electricity. Using clean renewable energy is friendly to the environment and reduces emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
